As I've been teaching I've found the same questions and comments cropping up a lot, so I've decided to put a few of them here to share the answers with you guys... If your questions not here feel free to pop along to one of my classes, or phone me and ask away.
What do I need to bring to class?
Something comfortable to wear for fitness (ahem, zumbawear maybe?), because you should be coming out a little warmer than when you arrived. Sensible footwear is a must, supportive trainers that allow for plenty of movement in any direction. If in doubt your local sports shop should be able to point you in the right direction (or again, zumbawear!). Other than that a drink and a towel would be a good idea.
What shoes should I wear?
A lot of people have been commenting that they are sticking to the floor during class and it's limiting their movement. My advice, check the tread on your shoes. The higher the tread the more you will stick as they are generally designed for forward motion such as running. Lower tread will give you a wider range of lateral and pivoting motion, or alternatively some sports shoes come with a low grip area under the ball of the foot to allow for greater swivel. Zumbawear shoes are ideal as they are designed fit for purpose, alternatively ask in your local sports shop. What you should also remember is ankle support, you could be doing a lot of running, leaping and generally bopping about so make sure your shoes are keeping you safe and secure.
Can children come to class?
Yes, under 16s are welcome when accompanied by a responsible adult. However, as my classes are created for adults some of the songs and dances may be considered unsuitable. Therefore class suitability is the parent or carers choice. Under 16s - £2 per session, £10 class pass.
Alternatively, let me know if you are interested in a child friendly class, and with enough support I will add Zumba Kids to my licenses and class schedule.

I have no co-ordination, can I still do Zumba®?
Of course! What matters is moving and having fun, no co-ordination required. If in doubt, ask me at the end of class and I will give you a few pointers to practice at home if you like, but when in class just go for it and get that gorgeous Zumba® sparkle going!
Will the class be too fast for me?
Nope. Yes we like to throw some faster beats in to get the heart rate up, but just wiggle and shake at your own pace. You can always build up each week until you're the one giving me a workout. If you're really not sure about the speed, why not try one of our gold classes? The pace is much slower with more modifications on show to choose from to suit your personal fitness level.
Where do you get your energy from?
Haha, easy question. The music, the excitement of the class, the supportive Zumba® family at class, everything. It's the Zumba® buzz and I can't get enough. Hopefully you'll feel the same so we can shake it out together.
